Katie Dill - Cars & Telephones (Arcade Fire Cover)

Katie Dill’s recent release 5th of July (Little Star) shows her using the ukulele as opposed to the omnichord, leading to smoother tracks and some beautiful play between the instrumentals and her vocals. Bringing in the same passionate delivery before, Katie’s cover of Cars & Telephones doesn’t hold back when delivering the emotion behind this song and maintains the lofi aesthetic that adds such a great amount of charm to her work.

The beauty in Dill’s cover is that all of the feelings are so bare and revealing. When she sings lines like

“I walked
To get the mail today.
I guess
Your letter never came.
I’ll just
Check again tomorrow”

and

“And I’ve lost all my friends
but you’re the one I miss the most”

they feel as if she was the one who wrote them.
