Marissa Wood - Sleepwalking

After stumbling upon this (preview of a) track on soundcloud a few days back, I quickly became obsessed. Marissa takes a truly minimalist approach to ambient music allowing her vocals to carry a large amount of the emotion and weight in her tracks. The subtle percussive elements chime in at just the right moments with just a touch of echo following them. The production is just beautifully straightforward, not flashy or busy, suiting the tone of this song perfectly 

Of course the highlight of the song are Marissa’s stunning vocals. They have an absolutely beautiful, soft texture to them and a feeling that can only be described as dreamy. The vocals pair up with the ambiance extremely well on this track, and the result is marvelous.

Again, this is only a preview/work in progress track. I can only imagine what Marissa has in store on for the final version.
